A friend once asked me, “what is the most shocking thing from the whole motherhood experience?”, I spontaneously responded “everything just felt easy and natural!” I was quite surprise with my own answer, but I guess that how I really feel.
Being grateful
We are so grateful that God gave us an easy pregnancy and child labor. We found out that I was pregnant around 2 months after we got married. I also didn’t have any major health problem during the pregnancy. I gave birth by c-section surgery and I had a smooth recovery. The 9 months of pregnancy went a little too fast and I have nothing but good memory about being pregnant.
Maternity leaves
I’m currently enjoying the last month of my maternity leaves. This 6 months leaves from the office probably was the best decision I made. The extra time allows me to take good care of myself and the baby. I have enough time to stock some breast milk before I start working. I organized our moving to the new apartment. Plus, I got to spend more time with my parents. My maternity leaves definitely makes everything easier because I can do everything slowly with plenty of time to relax.
The baby
Amelie is such a sweet baby girl and very easy to handle. She never cries out loud or have a colic episode. She’s only cranky when she was hungry or need new diapers. Once I feed her, she usually happy and cheerful again. At 3 months old, she’s already sleep throughout the night – no more night feeding or diapers change again. But don’t get me wrong, Amelie can be a handful sometimes, she constantly needs our attention almost every her waking hours. She doesn’t like to be left alone and sometimes she just wants us to look at her all the time. So, when she’s awake, I couldn’t do anything else but playing with her. Luckily, I have someone to help me out doing the house chores.
Losing weight
When I was pregnant, I gained almost 18 kilos and Amelie was 3,3 kilos when she was born. After 2 months of giving birth, I have lost around 13 kilos of my pregnancy weight. I’m glad that I followed my nutritionist advice which to only eat enough portion of carbs, lots of vegetable and protein, have healthy snacks in between meal, drink lots of water, and less sugar. Now, I only weigh around 4 – 5 kilos more before I was pregnant.
Breastfeeding
Breast milk is the most amazing thing. To watch my baby girl grow up really fast in short amount of time by just consuming breast milk, it’s just unbelievable.
